I’ve recently been busy. Busy, as in there’s-not-enough-hours-in-the-day type busy. Apart from holding down an onsite I.T. day-job that I’m really enjoying (you meet so many cool people!! … well, mostly …) I’ve been burning the midnight oil every single night for a few hours. The reason being to create everyday, which is a motto I’ve turned into my own personal mantra. And finally, after two hours work, every single night, rain, hail or shine, drunk or sober, over two years, I have some completed new stuff to show you.
Apart from Part I of my Silverbirch Novel saga (A Tear in the Fabric of the Night Sky, released in 2009/2010) today I am releasing a musical instrumental soundtrack to go with it. They are available right now for free over at my website.
Most notably over the last 19 months, I’ve been writing Part II of Silverbirch. For ten of those months, my fiance and I were travelling around the globe, visiting thirty countries. To say the experiences we had heavily influenced the new novel is an understatement. Especially our time in Grasmere UK, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Guatemala and Mexico (Mayan Ruins!!). In fact, at least 70% of Silverbirch Part II was written on the road as we were travelling.
For those interested, apart from writing the book, I was making a lot of travel-blog posts over at www.aussieontour.com(.)
I can tell you that as I write this little blog-post I feel somewhat relieved to have finished round-one of Silverbirch II editing. I am looking forward to handing my new finished manuscript over to five carefully selected editors this coming weekend. It feels extremely weird but awesome knowing people other than myself are going to live the adventure for the first time.
During the last three months of writing and editing, I also had an itch to write more music. So, apart from the Silverbirch Soundtrack Part I EP I’m releasing today, I’ve also managed to write a second EP for the second book that I’ll be releasing in a couple of weeks.
For now, I hope you enjoy (or enjoyed!) the first Silverbirch novel and will check out my first solo EP (for FREE from the website - www.robkaay.com) and I’ll let you know when the next novel and EP are ready.
Rock on,
Rob Kaay
